Solicitor Dr. Sarah-Jane Richards is a member of the defective products team and works with partner Bozena Michalowska Howell. Sarah-Jane was a successful medical research scientist for 18 years before deciding to retrain as a solicitor which she did, qualifying in 2004. She has previously worked at Hugh James where she was the lead solicitor in the Seroxat group action litigation under the head of Harmful Products.



Her medical background includes:



•Directing an internationally recognised research team in neural transplantation and gene transfer, discovery made was subject of a Medical Research Council patent.

•Securing a highly competitive MRC Recombinant DNA Fellowship, to study congenital brain disorders and neurodegenerative disease.

•Specialising in the atrioventricular heart defect observed in Down syndrome and other midline congenital defects.

•Heading a research group comprising 11 senior and junior researchers and clinicians.

•Collaboratively developing DNA fingerprinting from saliva for genetic and forensic analysis.

•Developing genetic screening for inherited Huntington’s disease while simultaneously pioneering molecular methods for the early detection of specific brain changes intrinsic to the disease.



Sarah-Jane is a Member of King’s College, Cambridge and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine
