Matt Holford predicts that Fid would crack "you'll drive yourself fucking nuts, trying to work out what it's about"

OK: I understand precisely what your position is, I think. Just take a step back, for a second, and see what I'm seeing, here... I take it your concern has nothing to do whatever with what "Bryce" has to say, but rather that he will be believed, in some quarters, even where the information underpinning any rumours is wholly fabricated, as with this swingers thing (incidentally "WetandWild2008" only wants email chat, but flashes her tits in an accompanying image - talk about conflicting messages!). It's been said that Bryce has no credibility, when he makes his "attacks" on you. I think that's probably true - I hardly feel the need to jump to your defence - I think only somebody who was already motivated to dislike you, for whatever reason, would feel inclined to look past the lack of substantiated evidence and believe that what was written amounted to anything. And it's fucking boring to read, too, because it's not at all clear where he's going. How can I put it, better? He doesn't tell one, up front, where he's going with his arguments, and so one is left floundering, trying to understand him. I mean one may only hear "Bob Fiddaman's a cunt," so many times, before one feels inclined to say "yeah, great: you've said that, already. So, what?" There's nothing there, Bob - it's utterly vacuous. That's it: 10 sentences, and I've lost interest in the guy. And in truth, nobody will find anything interesting in a message that is just repeated, endlessly, without progressing - it's the very fact of movement that makes any argument interesting, even if one does not agree, and that element is missing, with Bryce. Now one thing I abso-fucking-lutely forbid you to do is to start speculating about his motives. There is no fucking end to that game, Bob, and you'll drive yourself fucking nuts, trying to work out what it's about (which is what I meant by getting dragged into his reality): he won't tell you (we know this, because Stephany and I, for two, have asked him, directly), and he may or may not know that that is the only thing that is keeping you interested in his utterances. I'll give you a hypothesis, which will hold true, and then you can lose interest: he's getting a reaction, and it makes him feel good, or in control, or he feels release, or something by doing it. That's all. I doubt that there is deeper motive, here - and even if there is, he'll never disclose that, to you, because then he'd lose his hold. One final thing: he can't discredit you. He can only have you fear being discredited. Check your log, Bob: Bryce has been sniping at you for some time, but the Worshipful Company is still keeping close tabs on you. They're still worried about what you're saying, and nothing Bryce can dream up will allay those fears. Matt
