Police charge woman with perverting the cause of justice - Sydney

Police have charged a woman with perverting the cause of justice at a Sydney police station this afternoon.
About 2.30pm (26 May), a woman entered the Sydney Police Station in Surry Hills and was arrested by police.
It is the result of an investigation by Leichhardt Detectives into the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in 1985.
Police will allege the woman threatened and intimidated the 11-year-old into providing false statements to police to change the focus of an investigation.
A 57-year-old North Sydney woman was charged with perverting the cause of justice.
She was granted bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 16 June.
