“My reason for running was to raise the topic of health-care issues and I think I was able to do that. I am pleased that Tony Clement was re-elected because as a former minister of health, both federally and provincially, he can play a very active role in transforming our health-care system.”
He said he believes that many residents heard some of his ideas on the current state of the country’s health-care issues during the election, including Clement.
“The healthy-care system is in need of some major changes and it will be an incredibly challenging task for whoever governs the country.”
Carmichael said he doubts he will ever run for office again, stating that he wanted to run the one time to raise his concerns on health-care issues.
Marxist-Leninist candidate Albert Grey Smith could not be reached for comment by press time.

Independent candidate David Carmichael brought one platform to the table - healthare. An issue, he said, he feels is important enough to stand on its own.
“The principle I stand for is human life versus big (pharmaceutical) profit,” he said. Although Carmichael was unable to answer many of the questions, as he had only investigated issues pertaining to healthcare, he stands firmly in his fight to decrease the ways in which pharmaceutical companies influence healthcare regulations and policy.
