LOVESICK knife killer Shane Clancy texted his ex-girlfriend just hours before his stabbing frenzy and warned: "I'm going to kill myself."

Gardai believe the chilling message was sent by Clancy to Jennifer Hannigan after he purchased a block of lethal kitchen knives for just €5.

He then drove to the home of Jennifer's new boyfriend Seb Creane in Bray, Co. Wicklow, and stabbed him to death. He also stabbed Jennifer and Seb's brother Dylan in the bloodbath before sticking the knife in his own heart.

The Sunday World has also learned that the love triangle killer was the one who dumped Jennifer last February.

Jennifer and Dylan are expected to be among the mourners when Seb's remains are laid out in repose in a local chapel today.

He will be buried tomorrow in Co. Mayo near the home of devastated parents Nuala and James.

LOVESICK murderer Shane Clancy texted his ex-girlfriend and told her he was going to kill himself on the night of his terrifying knife attack on her, Seb Creane and his brother Dylan.

Officers investigating the horror murder suicide that has left three families devastated say he sent Jennifer Hannigan the chilling message after purchasing a €5 block of knives from Dunnes Stores in Cornelscourt.

They believe that he then drove to love rival Seb's Bray home and stabbed him in the heart after he answered the door.

In the bloodbath that ensued, Clancy then turned the knife on Jennifer (22), who had just arrived in a taxi after a night out with friends.

Investigators believe he was overcome with jealousy since he heard that she had started seeing popular student Seb (22) in recent weeks.

Bizarrely, the Sunday World can reveal, it was Clancy who had ended their three-year relationship last February but then deeply regretted his decision.

He had tried a number of times to win her back but friends say Jen was happy to be single and had been happy to split with Clancy (22) in the first place.

However, it was reported last night that complaints had been made about his stalking to gardai on a number of occasions - one at least two days before the horrific attack.

He had also followed Jennifer to Thailand, where she had travelled to escape his attentions over the summer, according to the Sunday Independent.

It is also claimed that he called off a charity trip to India to pursue her and had even travelled to Austrailia when he believed she was there.

He is to be buried in Mayo tomorrow where his parents Nuala and James are from after a funeral mass in Bray.

It is expected his brother Dylan (28) and injured Jennifer will attend the funeral after being released from hospital on Friday.

When Shane Clancy called to the Creanes' home, it was not just his own life he intended to end.

After knifing Seb in the chest Clancy turned to Jennifer, who is believed to have arrived at the house just minutes before.

Sources close to the investigation say he wasn't expecting her to show up there and believed Seb was alone.

As she pleaded with him to spare her life, frenzied Clancy stabbed her with such ferocity in the back that he broke the knife and left it embedded in her.

Seb's brother Dylan tried to overpower Clancy but he grabbed another knife from the kitchen and stabbed him eight times puncturing his lung.

Upstairs, Dylan's terrified girlfriend Laura Mackey could hear the screams and the commotion. She is said to be deeply traumatised by the events and has kept a vigil at Dylan's hospital bed all week.

As terrified Jennifer staggered over the garden wall in a bid to raise the alarm Clancy then made his way out the back of the house and made a number of attempts to stab himself in the heart before falling on the knife and driving it into his heart.

The tragedy was a culmination of Clancy's increasing obsession with his teenage sweetheart that led him to murder. Sources say he had become more and more unstable as he watched her enjoy her new-found freedom in the months after their split. In June she had gone on a holiday with friends to Thailand and in the weeks before the tragedy had begun a non-serious relationship with popular Seb, who she knew for years from college.

Clancy had been her boyfriend since she was just 18 and fresh out of Loreto Convent School in Dalkey.

They got together after they met in The Club bar where Clancy was working as a barman.

Teetotaller

While he never drank and his funeral mass heard he was a teetotaller our photographs show empty cans of Bulmer's Cider lined up on a windowsill at his bedsit.

It is believed Clancy introduced Jennifer to owners of the bar, who took her on to work as a lounge girl.

Sources say that Clancy was very quiet, while Jennifer was the opposite and popular with customers at the bar.

Late last year Clancy stopped working at The Club but Jennifer remained working there right up to this summer.

For reasons unknown Clancy decided to dump his girlfriend last February but immediately regretted it when she happily accepted the split.

Since then she developed a new network of friends which included tragic Seb and used the cash she earned at The Club bar to fund nights out and her holiday to Thailand.

Throughout the same period Clancy became more and more reclusive spending most of his time in his grotty bedsit flat.

At Trinity College, were he was studying Irish and Theology, colleagues noticed no changes in him but in recent weeks his behaviour became increasingly bizarre.

While he had spent a lot of time and effort being trained up by a charity to travel to Calcutta in India this summer, he dropped out at the last minute citing personal reasons.

Gardai say his obsession with winning Jennifer back was growing by the day and when he heard that she had started to see Seb he became insanely jealous of the good-looking Bray man.

He tried to contact some of Jennifer's friends on their Facebook pages and went out of his way to bump into them and enquire about his ex.

Last Saturday night he managed to get himself into the company of Seb through a mutual acquaintance who was meeting him for a drink in the Eagle's House in Glasthule.

Sources say he was quiet and appeared to be in bad humoured on the night but, despite not drinking alcohol, stuck with the group until 2.30am when they finished up at the Vico nightclub in nearby Dalkey.

When he offered Seb and two friends a lift home to Bray they refused saying they would get a taxi.

But he was insistent and cajoled them into getting into his car. He dropped off the friends, two brothers first and then brought Seb to his home at Cuala Grove.

Dreadful

Then he drove to the 24 hour Dunnes at Cornelscourt and purchased the knives. It was at this point that it is believed he contacted

Jennifer and told her he was going to kill himself.

Officers piecing together the dreadful scenes that happened after 4.30am believe that Seb was his main target and that he had not planned to injure Jennifer or Dylan - merely wipe out the one man he believed stood between him and his love.

They believe that his insistence on driving the arts student home was solely so he could find out where he lived and return to kill him.

Toxicology tests will reveal whether or not Clancy had any drugs in his system at the time of the attacks but there is no evidence to suggest he was a cocaine user.

Sources say that the non-drinker's only vice appeared to be rolled up cigarettes before the extraordinary events of the past few weeks
