Well, it's the time of the year to reminisce about the last 12 months. The BBC will be giving the Sports Personality Of The Year Award for which I hope that Becky Adlington collects as her last gasp win in the 400 metres and her dominant world record performance in the 800 metres were awesome and all that for a girl on 12 grand a year!!

I suppose Barack Obama winning the Presidency is the most eye-catching and puts some sort of closure on African-Americans fight for equality. Let's hope that he is equal to the task of dealing with the challenging times ahead for America and the world at large.

My vote though goes to a regular contributor to this board: Bob Fiddaman.

This Birmingham based lad is a tour de force, a one man battering-ram pacifist. With just a keyboard and internet connection, a sense of injustice (and indeed a sense of justice) and a persistence that is truly superhuman this "one voice" blogging sensation has made the arrogant multibillion dollar pharmaceutical industry sit up and take notice.

A visit now and again to his blogspot http://fiddaman.blogspot.com/ will reveal the relentless, tigerish zeal with which this David is bringing Goliath to book for past misdeeds.

I didnt particularly like the guy ( maybe that's an understatement) and when I heard about him starting this blog a couple of years ago I said to myself that there's no way he'll persevere with this for any worthwhile length of time but lo and behold as events have unfolded this fella has not alone kept to the battle but has increased the intensity!!!
All this despite some personal setbacks which have included the passing away of his Mum. Adversity tests a man's mettle but this man's mettle has been found to be super-strong!!!

This heroic endeavour is deserving of something tangible so if he emails me privately his posting address I'll forward forthwith:

WESTERNS The Classic Collection

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Big Country

Both DVDs detail triumph over adversity, so Fidd McCool would be a most deserving recipient to enjoy a few hours entertainment (I'm sure he has seen these films before but maybe not on DVD??)!

PS. Sorry Barack, you just picked the wrong year to make your breakthrough!!! I'm sure you understand having visited the fiddaman blogspot!
