Shared Care Protocol ADHD treatment - 60mg a day to be needed.

Dosage

Details of dosage will be specified by the consultant and will be in line with NICE guidance. The doseslisted in the BNF may be insufficient for adult patients.

Methylphenidate

BNF doses recognised up to 60mg in children, however NICE considers doses of up to 100mg a day

(equivalent to immediate release methylphenidate) to be needed in adults.

Dexamphetamine   

BNF doses recognised up to 40mg in children, however, NICE considers doses up to 60mg a day to be needed.

Atomoxetine

As per adolescent prescribing details contained within the BNF.
