Grief-stricken college students are planning a memorial service to pay tribute to their former classmate and Bray murder victim Sebastian Creane.

A date for the service has yet to be confirmed as students struggle to come to terms with the horrific tragedy that hit the close-knit college.

There was widespread shock at his death among his fellow students at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT), where he was about to enter his fourth year of a degree programme in visual communications.

College president Jim Devine offered his sympathy to the Creane family and also to Sebastian's girlfriend, Jennifer Hannigan, from Killiney, Dublin.

Counselling services have been provided for the students to help them to cope with the devastating loss of their close friend Sebastian Creane.

It is understood that both Dylan Creane (27), an older brother of Sebastian who was stabbed eight times by Clancy, and Jennifer Hannigan have been released from hospital.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that killer Shane Clancy apparently lied to his victim as an excuse to drive him home.

It has been claimed that Clancy told Sebastian Creane he was staying with relatives in Co Wicklow and that it was no problem to drop him off home on his way.

deception

He used this deception to lure Mr Creane (22) and his two friends into his car after they left a nightclub in Dalkey in the early hours last Sunday.

Clancy dropped off Sebastian's two friends before driving the 22-year-old student to Sebastian's home in Cuala Grove in Bray.

After he left the house, Clancy drove to a 24-hour Dunnes Stores to purchase a block of knives that would serve as the murder weapons.

Clancy then returned to the house, stabbing Sebastian to death and badly injuring former girlfriend Jennifer and Mr Creane's older brother Dylan, before taking his own life by stabbing himself in the heart.
