Seroxat lawyers media machine makes matters worse for consumers of all other brands of SSRI

Steph & others reading your attention is drawn to

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/SSRI-Crusaders/message/34746

http://coventryuniversity.podbean.com/2007/11/01/one-woman-a-multinational-and-a-victory-shelley-jofre-panorama/

which is a podcast of Shelley Jofre speaking at Sheffield University date Nov 2007

from the transcript please note -

4 .30 in Ed says - lets look at antidepressant story

4 45 Jofre says although problems with whole class of antidepressants we (bbc) decided to concentrate on Seroxat Why we narrowed down on Seroxat 1 because it was made by GSK 2 all the drugs in class cause suicidal thinking on dose change 3 Seroxat had a unique problem of withdrawal BECAUSE IT WAS LONGER ACTING … we decided to focus research into this drug

So here we have it straight from the horses mouth that not only did the BBC know that there was a class wide problem with SSRI, they chose despite this knowledge, to focus research on seroxat !

Quite how the UK lawyers media machine can be seen as a help, to those seeking to bring awareness about all psychiatric drugs, when they, in the face of there own knowledge, decided to ignore the bulk of the problem (all drugs in class), is beyond comprehension.

The BBC is a public sector broadcaster responsible to all like me, who have no choice but to pay a tax (broadcasting licence) to them. So it comes with a sense of total bewilderment to learn from Jofre, that not only did Panorama take 8 months to make, but that the UK litigation lawyer was involved throughout the process!!

6.00 in - 40 min Panorama film took Shelley Jofre 8 months to make

&

7.30 We were talking to the lawyer the whole way through production

So Steph here was prime opportunity to bring awareness about all SSRI's & the whole thing was ceeded to the only persons who will benefit ....the UK lawyers

So lets look again at what Jofre said @ 6:10

6.10 in - It's not something you do lightly WE WERE TAKING ON the worlds second largest drug company

Quite frankly Steph that is not something the BBC has a remit to do.

It has become partisan.

Remember whilst the BBC is fighting Hugh James' wars for them they (BBC) are by their own admission failing to help people who take brands other than Paxil/Seroxat .............i.e. the majority of the consumers.

.

The net result which is easy to show (from national statistics) is a dissaster.

BBC & Jofre should hang their head in shame.

Now I realise this won't lie easy with those of you who have met Jofre in person, so for those that know her, I suggest you invite her & her producer at Panorama to join the debate here at SSRIcrusaders.

I'll not hold my breath, as with the UK seroaxt caucus I don't expect that they are capable of self reflection.

The UK now has a runaway problem with several brands of antidepressants a regulator that is bogged down by seroxat "created issues", one that has failed to do its job to the detriment of anyone who takes an antidepressant NOT made by GSK

And you think this helps Steph?

Jeremy

(( note in writing this post I am not in anyway attempting to defend GSK ))
